Hi, I’m in need of wardrobe advice. I’m 29 and slim… I have a combination of street-wear dresses and tops, plus skirts and colourful pants I picked up from travelling abroad. How should I pair these separates and add colour without looking loud? I have an active social life and would love my wardrobe to reflect my outgoing personality.
Hey Jaya, thanks for writing in! I’ve mulled over your questions and am giving you super-easy pointers to make the process simple. I am sure your active social life will now be even more fun!
Black Ganji. Your fun side will get a new lease of life when you stroll down the street wearing a black singlet with colourful printed palazzos! Black ganji is a very versatile piece of clothing and can be paired with pants, palazzos, big bohemian skirts, denims, shorts. Heck, everything!
White Shirt. Pair your white shirt with colorful pants for a casual day out with friends. You can also wear it with classic blue denims and red hot stilettos for an evening out (invest in a nice belt for the in-tuck look) or rock it with a gold, shimmery pencil skirt for a special occasion. If you’re going ethnic, a white shirt can look very classy with a traditional, colourful saree.
Colourful Churidars. Colour blocking is one the best ways to spruce up a regular Indian look. Team a white kurta with an electric blue churidar and watch the fun. A fuchsia churidar looks fabulous with almost every kurta including black. Accessorise with a nude bag and some colourful accessories like bangles or even a colour-contrast bindi to add drama.
The Jumpsuit. Nothing beats the summers like this comfortable breezy outfit and you will turn heads wherever you go. Accessorize a jumpsuit with a fringe bag, 70’s sunglasses and wedge heels and you are already swinging to the ‘Dancing Queen’.
A Sexy Short Number. You can deviate from black and experiment with colours, here. If you’re not into dresses, a shimmery top will do for the club night. Heels, of course! Gold is better if you like bling, otherwise stick to black.
A Boho Maxi Dress. A grown-up version of the summer dress, the Boho Maxi is so hot right now. Pair it with boots, headbands, some funky accessories and you’re ready for a rock show. Pair it with wedge heels, a messy side braid and minimal makeup and you’re looking sultry for a brunch party. Pair it with stilettos, side swept hair and bold red lips and you’re ready for a hot date!
